Efficiency and accuracy are two main tenants of manufacturing. At Mastersons our commitment to these allow us to excel at making small runs, one-offs, and prototypes for our customers.
Currently, the shop employees six machinists and two polishers to run six wire EDM machines (4 wires, 1 sinker, and 1 hole driller), 2 HAAS VMCs, 2 HAAS Lathes, 2 O.D. Grinders, and 5 Surface Grinders(1 CNC, 2 NC, and 2 manual). We pride ourselves on our constant investment in new machines and new technologies to stay proactive in the face of the ever changing and progressing manufacturing industry.
A few new noteworthy investments:
- Okamoto ACC 16.40CA2 Creep Feed Grinder – this machine was shipped directly to our facility from the Okamoto factory in Japan and is the first of its kind in the United States
- HAAS ST-30 CNC Lathe
- Trumpf TruMark 3020 Laser Engraver
- Cincinnati #2 NC Centerless Grinder (new rebuild 2013)
Other upgrades to the shop floor include a new, energy efficient VSD Air Compressor system, the net-working of all possible machines, and the creation of workstations for each employee to gain access to shared drives. These shared drives contain company documents and customer prints, as well as SolidWorks and CAMWorks. The ability to create new machining programs or the editing of existing ones is now available to all machinists.
We are currently in the process of installing and configuring barcode readers throughout the shop, which will give us the capability of tracking real time data on all jobs as they travel through the shop. Our in- spection procedure is tied to the barcode trackers created for each job. It follows each part through the shop, step by step, requiring each part to be scanned and inspected once each machining process is completed.
Outside the shop floor, we have added a new Ziess microscope with a 60x zoom and camera port, and we are currently in the process of installing barcode readers which will give us the capability of tracking real time data on all jobs as they travel through the shop.
